A typical 90 minute reading block:
We begin our reading block with a 15-20 mini lesson where I teach a specific reading skill or strategy. For example, if we are focusing on the skill of theme, I may read a picture book and together as a class we discuss the book's theme and how to find it. After our mini lesson, we move onto our reader's workshop. Everyday students will "Read to Self", "Technology: Canvas", "Work on Words", and go to "Teacher Time". Teacher time time consists of either guided reading or book clubs.
